Aldwych is a street and the area that surrounds it in London. Within the City of Westminster, Aldwych is a 450 metre long street that sits in the very heart of the city. The name Aldwych is derived from the meaning of old port, as it was once the port of the City of London. But today, you won’t find fishermen and sailors lining the streets, instead, you’ll find a few theatres, several hotels and restaurants. Aldwych once had its own tube station, before it was closed down, and it was once a popular choice to feature in films and TV shows. Near Aldwych you'll find Covent Garden, Westminster Abbey around a 20 minute walk away, and Soho.
