Princess Beatrice to throw engagement party at Chiltern Firehouse

It is rumoured that Princess Beatrice will host a lavish engagement party this month at London hotspot Chiltern Firehouse.

According to Palace sources, Beatrice and her fiancé Edo Mapelli Mozzi will throw the bash on 18 December. Mapelli Mozzi, a property developer, popped the question in September of this year, asking Beatrice to marry him while they were holidaying in Italy. The 36 year old has a three year old son from a previous relationship with American architect Dara Huang.

It is believed that an official date for the wedding will not be announced until after the General Election, but that Beatrice will marry within the traditional six month period after the engagement that is convention for aristocratic nuptials. Her father Prince Andrew has reportedly been invited to the Chiltern Firehouse party, but it is unlikely that he will be photographed at the event due to the controversy currently surrounding his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The dining room at Chiltern Firehouse

Chiltern Firehouse has become a permanent fixture on London’s party scene over the years and is not the most obvious choice for a royal engagement party. The Marylebone hotel and restaurant has gained a reputation for attracting A-listers ever since it opened in 2014, with everyone from David Beckham to Lindsay Lohan having enjoyed dinner there.

The kitchen here is headed up by Michelin-starred executive chef Nuno Mendes, with the menu famous for its liberal use of luxury ingredients. Guests, famous or not, are able to tuck into the likes of crab doughnuts, Oscietra caviar and black truffle and cheese fries. High prices also come as standard, with almost all of the mains on the à la carte breaking the £30 barrier.

Despite its reputation as a celeb favourite, Chiltern Firehouse isn’t all style and no substance. In fact, it is one of our Gold Award restaurants and has received praise from national restaurant critics. Will Beatrice serve the crab doughnuts at her engagement party? We’re willing to put money on it.
