Caroline's experience
Caroline’s passion for journalism began during the golden age of print magazines. Growing up, Tuesdays were a highlight of the week—a chance to visit the newsagent and pick up the latest editions of her favourite titles. This early love for storytelling and media inspired her to pursue journalism at university. After earning her degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Winchester, Caroline began her career at Archant Specialist, working across a variety of hobby and niche-interest publications.
From there, she entered the world of weddings at Hitched, one of the leading wedding platforms. Over eight years, she played a key role in shaping content across Hitched’s international markets, producing tailored content for audiences in Ireland, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and India. Caroline later transitioned into overseeing content and marketing for both UK and global platforms, driving the brand forward during its acquisition by Immediate Media.
With years of expertise in digital platforms, Caroline went on to found Sorella + Co, a content and marketing agency specialising in the wedding and lifestyle industries. She worked with a diverse range of clients, including hotels, wedding venues, bridal boutiques, travel companies, and fashion brands. Her reputation as a UK wedding expert led to appearances on radio stations and national news outlets.
In 2018, Caroline joined SquareMeal to guide the team through its evolution into a fully digital-first brand. Under her leadership, SquareMeal refined its content strategy around five key pillars—restaurants, private dining, event and party venues, Christmas parties, and wedding venues—offering a comprehensive solution for the hospitality industry. Today, Caroline leads SquareMeal’s content team, overseeing listings, editorial, marketing, and social media output, ensuring the brand continues to deliver engaging, high-quality content for its audience.
