With the outdoor wedding season just around the corner, it's that time of year where newly engaged couples start to consider whether they would like an outdoor wedding ceremony. In fact, within the last three months, Google Trends data shows a 28% rise in searches for ‘outdoor weddings’ in the UK.
While no one can guarentee sunshine on your wedding day, picking a typically "drier" date gives you the best chance of hosting your garden reception drinks or your woodland wedding ceremony in the sun (or at least without the rain!). With this in mind, we’ve managed to get our hands on some new data which is certain to come in handy when finalising your wedding date.
Ethical jewellery brand Sacet has recently revealed the perfect dates for outdoor weddings in the UK’s capital cities. Over the course of five years, Sacet examined weather patterns and trends across the UK, gathering research from warm, dry weather and low winds to help conclude their findings. The criteria of their research included temperatures above 20 degrees, 0mm of rainfall, and wind speeds below 3mph across the UK's four major cities.
According to Sacet research, data shows that the ideal day for an outdoor event in England this year is Thursday, 18th July 2024, while in Scotland and Wales, the perfect date for an al-fresco wedding, is Friday, 19th July 2024. If you happen to be tying the knot in Northern Ireland, the perfect date for you differs, you can expect sunny skies on Tuesday, 16th July 2024.
Despite the obvious challenges of a mid-week wedding, holding a wedding during these dates presents the perfect opportunities for intimate celebrations, civil weddings and spontaneous couples who want a laid-back affair. You can not only expect to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors but potentially save yourself a bit of money on venue costs and hotel rates due to increased availability.
