A recent study has revealed five wedding trends that are set to be big news this summer. The research, conducted by online ring jeweller Diamonds Factory, features trend predictions for summer weddings this year, with everything from statement colour palettes to outdoor weddings set to be a hit.

With summer just around the corner, getting the inside scoop on all the hottest emerging trends will come in handy if your wedding date falls over the next few months.

According to the research, couples are expected to forego traditional black and white formal attire, opting instead for more lively colour palettes. It concluded: 'Stepping away from the traditional black and white formal attire, we expect to see many wedding parties embrace colour this Summer. We saw the mismatched bridesmaid dresses trend resurge in popularity in late 2023, and predict this trend will take off even further this Summer, especially now it's getting warmer and with people experimenting with colour more.'

Pinterest searches for a ‘burnt orange and sage green wedding’ were reportedly up 450% year on year, while searches for 'vibrant wedding flowers' were up 380% and 'pink and orange wedding flowers' were up 200%, suggesting that couples are seeking brighter colours across every element of their wedding. 

Elsewhere, garden and forest-based weddings were predicted to be popular over summer, especially as the trend for sustainable weddings shows no signs of slowing down. Not only is it beneficial to have an eco-friendly nuptial, but outdoor ceremonies surrounded by nature can be incredibly picturesque, providing plenty of fantastic photo opportunities. Again, Pinterest searches for 'whimsical garden weddings' were up 450% year on year. 

When it comes to decor, ground flower arches are set to cause a storm, according to Diamond Factory. 'We have all seen the love and popularity flower arches have got on social media, with stunning displays being created for every type of occasion, especially weddings.'

While more couples are expected to seek content creators to capture their wedding day, cutting down the time it takes to process photos on a digital camera and allowing couples to share their nuptials instantly on social media. 

Finally, refined bouquets with a pop of colour are also predicted to enter the wedding scene. The research cited celebrities such as Sofia Riche and Bridget Bahl as some of the people who have adopted colourful bouquets into their weddings.
