Located on the bustling Fore Street in the centre of the Cornish town of St Ives, The Seafood Café is a popular restaurant specialising in serving fresh local fish and shellfish. Prices are kept reasonable at this relaxed eatery but you can be assured that everything you eat has been carefully sourced, with most of the fish landed fresh each morning. Choose from the seafood on display at the front or have the knowledgeable staff talk you through the various options. Whether you're popping in for a light lunch while visiting St Ives, or are travelling in specially for a hefty dinner, The Seafood Café will guarantee you have a fantastic meal.
You wouldn't know when walking past quite how spacious The Seafood Café is, with room for well over 50 covers. The white and blue interiors give the space a light, bright and contemporary feel, while stripped back wooden floors add a certain rustic edge. Seating consists of a mixture of wooden tables and chairs, cosy leather armchairs and banquettes along the wall, and there are plenty of corners which have a little more privacy.
The seafood-focused menu doesn't cater for vegans and vegetarians but there are a few dishes designed for children such as a small portion of fish and chips. The main menu begins with starters such as fish chowder, seared local scallops with Jerusalem artichoke puree and crispy chorizo, and whitebait fritters with aioli. When it comes to main courses, you can expect dishes such as local hake fillet wrapped in Parma ham with potatoes and hollandaise, and homemade fish pie with parmesan mash.
There's plenty to choose from drinks-wise at The Seafood Café too, with cocktails such as Aperol Spritz and Negroni on offer, as well as a short but sweet wine list, beers, ciders and soft drinks.
