Princess Beatrice announces engagement to boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Princess Beatrice has announced her engagement to boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Beatrice, who is ninth in line to the throne and the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Duchess of York, announced the news in a statement earlier today.

"We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together. We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness," the couple said.

The pair got engaged earlier this month while on holiday in Italy and the princesses’ family have been quick to congratulate the happy couple.

The Princess, aged 31, and her property tycoon fiancé Mapelli Mozzi have been dating for two years, having known each other socially for several years prior. The property developer, aged 36, has a two-year-old son from a previous relationship.

The couple moved in together not long after they began dating and even joined her parents at the Bahrain Grand Prix in April.

In the statement the Duke and Duchess of York said: "We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride."

Princess Eugenie posted a picture of the happy couple on Instagram saying: “It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be.”

Princess Beatrice’s mother, Sarah Ferguson was quick to congratulate the pair on twitter too saying: “I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law.”

Mapelli Mozzi’s parents joined in with congratulating the couple by saying “Our family have known Beatrice for most of her life. Edo and Beatrice are made for each other.”

It is thought that the wedding will take place next year and details of when and where the wedding will take place are, as of yet, unclear. Given Princess Beatrice’s sister Eugenie got married at Windsor Castle it would come as no surprised if she followed suit.
