Emma Stone's now-fiancé announces the couple's engagement

La La Land actress Emma Stone's new fiance's announced the couple's engagement via a sweet Instagram post.

Last night Emma’s boyfriend of two years, Dave McCary, posted an intimate picture of the couple on his public page with Emma proudly displaying her engagement ring – a large pearl encircled by diamonds. He captioned the post simply with a love hearts emoji. Emma has yet to comment on the news but her beaming smile speaks volumes.

Speculation was circulating back in April after Emma was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her finger, but the actress was quick to deny any engagement rumours on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon shortly afterwards.

Dave McCary, 34, is segment producer of Saturday Night Live and it was believed that he first met Emma, 31, when she hosted the show back in December 2016. The private pair were first seen in public together in November 2017 in New York City when they were spotted out shopping together. Emma is known for being taciturn on matters of her personal life and it wasn’t until the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January that the duo officially confirmed their relationship by making their red carpet debut together.

Emma previously dated Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield, but after a three year romance it was believed that the duo split in October 2015 after Emma arrived alone at the Academy Awards. Prior to that, the Oscar winner has also been linked to future Succession star Kieran Culkin and musician and producer Teddy Geiger but has always remained tight-lipped around matters of the heart.

Dave joined the Saturday Night Live team as a segment director in 2013 but had previously worked in a comedy sketch group with fellow comedians Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney. Alongside directing the show, Dave also co-wrote and directed a critically acclaimed dramedy- Bigsby Bear.

Emma is currently filming for her role as Cruella DeVil in a live-action remake of the Disney classic 101 Dalmations. She recently opened up about her plans for the future in an interview with Elle, revealing:

'My perspective about kids has changed as I've gotten older. I never babysat or anything. As a teenager, I was like, I'm never getting married, I'm never having kids,' she said.

'And then I got older and I was like, I really want to get married, I really want to have kids.'

Dave’s Instagram post announcing the engagement last night has already attracted over 90,000 likes from well-wishers.
