Don't eat at Rick Stein's Fish in Falmouth - avoid like the plague!
Rick Stein's Fish Falmouth. This one has been on my bucket list for more three years now. Cod and Chips. Nowt can go wrong with that what with Rick Stein's name and reputation on the line, right? Wrong!
Probably the worst case of "soggy bottomed fish" served up on a plate this side of the '70s.
Dark heavy batter over-cooked on the outside on the verge of burnt, soggy under-cooked on the inside enwrapping tasteless wet fish entirely lacking that crisp light freshness one expects of batter at it should be.
The fish was not fresh and not the chucky cod loin one expects to be served in an establishment bearing the name "Rick Stein".
Mushy peas pureed way beyong redemption served with awful hard-as-leather chips presented with a thick unappetising "tartar sauce" defying any resemblance to a bone fide recipe. Small portion sizes adding to the sense of being "ripped off".
All in all it an immense culnary disappointment. Shame on you Rick Stein for continuing to be associated with such poor quality food. The food served in Falmouth is so far downhill it's wallowing in the gutter. I ask the same question as others, "Why on earth are you endorsing this rubbish !!!".
