This is my absolute favourite go to restaurant in town – i seem to be there every two weeks for some bizarre reason whereas i made a resolute vow in my younger days not to go anywhere twice. Also, when cutting down on spending and high calorie dinners out, you need to be assured where you go really hits the mark. Anyhow, after eating practically everywhere it seems, everything can get a bit samey, but H&C definitely shows me something special that keeps me coming back.
H&C is middle eastern food, food to be shared (though like Joey from Friends, me no share food!). Seriously though, what i love is that its fresh, and delicious and everything seems to have a whole lot of love put into it. I like the taste, the presentation, the feeling of not being bloated, and the contentment of having delicious food. Ive always managed to get a last minute booking but there are only about 20 covers so not much wiggle room if you arent organised.
I can recommend the falafel, really moorish, the lamb shwarma which is beautifully presented and so much more than the usual kebabs one tries! The piece de resistance is the cheesecake – a sortof upside down cheesecake with the creamiest combination of feta and soft cheese you can imagine (its in the book, ive done it, and still order it!). The biscuits (pistachio and chocolate) are to die for, but personal trainers and biscuits dont go hand in hand…
All i can say is H&C is definitely for the foodies who are bored of the same stuff out there, this is a place to be reckoned with. I only hope they keep it small and lovely, because i think the size/style is what makes it special, but who knows, this is a place deserved of every success.
