A couple from Queensland became the first of six couples to enjoy an official KFC-themed wedding last weekend. Kate and Harrison Cann tied the knot in front of 150 guests who proceeded to throw confetti from mini KFC buckets before tucking into a KFC feast, which included buckets of chicken wings and a cake complete with a KFC wedding cake topper.

Fast food chain KFC launched its official wedding service last year for fans of its "finger lickin’ good" chicken in response to the many couples who get engaged in its restaurants and those that have gone on to create their own version of a KFC wedding. “With so many people wanting us to be part of their big day we just had to create KFC Weddings,” its official Australian site says.

Kate and Harrison Cann had their first date at KFC so decided to apply for a KFC Wedding after becoming engaged. They were chosen from thousands of applicants after their gushy rewrite of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rap impressed judges.

Not only did the chain cover the cost of a wedding feast complete with a KFC food van, it also provided personalised buckets, a photo booth and a singer dressed like Colonel Sanders – something it’ll be doing for a further five couples this year.
