Hotel Café Royal is somewhat of an institution, located in the heart of cream-toned Regents Street, this stunning period building proudly spans part of London's most famous stretch. It was established back in 1845 when a French wine merchant and his wife fled Paris, looking to start anew. Together they built a hotel, restaurant and bar that would go on to host some of the most exclusive names in celebrity - from Princess Diana to Mick Jagger.
Today, the hotel celebrates both old and new with heritage architectural features and contemporary design. It's a fabulous place to sleep, eat and drink, and if you're looking for somewhere special to enjoy a meticulously prepared cocktail or expertly chosen wine, The Green Bar is the place.
As the name suggests, this intimate watering hole is hued emerald green; just one of the many features which make it stand out. Think plush furnishings, avant garde artworks and even a decorative tree, which draws the eye to the bar - where the magic happens. Whether you're planning a special date, overdue catch up or important client meeting, you won't be disapointed.
While the menu is focused mostly on cocktails, there are some light bites to enjoy such as Scottish smoked salmon blinis, mini Angus beef burgers, buttermilk fried chicken bites and lobster rolls. There's even a selection of oysters and caviar, if you're feeling really fancy.
Getting down to business, and the signature cocktail menu boasts a selection of eight concoctions using a breadth of ingredients. We like the sound of the Moulin Rouge with Waqar Pisco infused hibiscus, Campari, Cherry Hearing, rose and lychee tea syrup, egg white and lime. There's also a special focus on Absinthe-based drinks, with a whole menu that offers a unique spin on this iconic spirit. Not for the faint hearted, we like the sound of the White Fairy with Jameson Crested Fat Washed Coconut Oil, La Fée Blanche Absinthe, coconut puree, spiced orgeat, Aquafaba, lime and soda.
