I went to have dinner with a few colleagues. After ordering scallops for starter and a pasta dish the waitress came back with a prawn starter instead of the scallops. When I mentioned to the waitress that I didn’t order the prawns she raised her tone insisting that I did order them. My colleagues were absolutely shocked by her tone and they knew I didn’t order the prawns. The waitress took the prawns back to the kitchen and came back a while later with the scallops. A few minutes afterwards she came back with the prawn starter and said that she can’t take it back to the kitchen and she had to leave on my table pretty much in a cold state.
I should have thought about it twice, but I ended up eating the already cold prawns. Eventually, when the bill came to the table, they had included the prawns and the scallops, so I called the waitress to have a talk. I mentioned it is not very appropriate to bring back the prawns in the first place and secondly I don’t think it was appropriate to charge for it as I didn’t order it in the first place (also they came back cold and disgusting).
She called up the manager who came asking what was wrong and I mentioned that the prawns should not have been charged if I didn’t order it in the first place. With the most disgusting tone she said “you ate it right? Then you should pay for it”. At least she could have made a comment about the waitress’s mistake, but no comment was made. Ultimately, I ended up paying for the prawns as well, but I was shocked how rude the waitress and manager were considering the disgusting tone they were speaking with. I can’t remember how much the prawns cost but they have definitely lost more than that as I won’t be coming back there. It is funny how many of the comments on this page refer to the disgusting attitude from the managers or customer service in general, but it looks like they make no effort to change it.
