St Michael's Manor Hotel is a beautiful townhouse hotel in St Albans, Hertfordshire, set in five acres of classical English gardens. Guests of the hotel can enjoy the 30, individually-designed, boutique bedrooms but whether you're staying the night or simply visiting for a special occasion, the in-house restaurant is a lovely place for family get-togethers, birthday dinners or afternoon tea.
The restaurant is set in a large, open conservatory featuring elegant decor. Neutral walls, plush, padded chairs and atmospheric lighting create a timeless feel, with the space's mood adjusting to each time of day, whether it be a sunny afternoon or crisp winter's evening.
St Michael's Manor Hotel's restaurant offers seasonal set menus throughout the year, with an ever changing a la carte option, as well menus for lunch, kids, and Sundays. Whilst most menus will showcase the best of what the seasonal produce has to offer, the Sunday menu will remain largely the same throughout the year - think duck and foie gras terrine, sour cherry and brioche to start, roasted sirloin of beef with all the trimmings for mains, with desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream to round off.
The St Michael's Manor Hotel also offers an afternoon tea which is a sophisticated way to raise a glass with a luxurious take on this classic British pastime. Dainty finger sandwiches are filled with egg mayo and cress, and smoked salmon and crémé fraiche are sandwiched between a brioche bun. Sweet treats come in the form of warm scones as well as a selection of homemade cakes such as the chocolate and blackcurrant opera cake, and mango and passionfruit slice. Delicious.
Reservations are advised and can be made online, or give the team a call and they'll be happy to book you whatever sized table you need.
