Scala is a stylish restaurant and bar found in Orpington, Kent. The restaurant first launched in 2017 and has gone from strength to strength ever since, taking diners on a culinary journey through the sun-soaked Mediterranean.
The venue is split across two floors and features separate bar and dining areas, so you can really make a night of it here - start off with cocktails in the bar, before sitting down to enjoy a three-course meal in the restaurant. Scala’s interiors will get you in the party spirit too, with the crisp white and ocean blue colour scheme making you feel like you have been transported straight to the Med (don’t miss the stunning blue light installation either, which hangs from the ceiling down past the first-floor balcony).
As for Scala’s menu, expect a wide-range list of dishes which draws inspiration from the likes of Italy, Greece and Spain. To start things off, tuck into calamari fritti with a garlic and herb mayonnaise or Greek filo pastry parcels served alongside tzatziki. For your main course, choose between pastas, pizzas, rice dishes or carnivorous options - think a classic spaghetti carbonara, pizza topped with Spanish chorizo and caramelised onions, or grilled chicken skewers served with couscous, herb mayonnaise and salad leaves. You can also pad out your meal with tempting side orders, including truffle fries, Mediterranean grilled vegetables or garlic buttered spinach.
Families are also welcome at Scala and there is a dedicated kids menu to choose from - think child-friendly servings of spaghetti bolognese or breaded chicken strips served with fries, followed by ice cream for dessert. Grown-ups meanwhile, can peruse Scala’s extensive drinks list, which features all of the classic cocktails (Espresso Martinis, Pina Colada etc.), alongside wines and a range of specialty gins.
On Sundays, head here for a classic roast, with kids eating free.
