Jin Go Gae is a popular Korean BBQ restaurant in the heart of New Maden, also known as Korean Town. The restaurant offers a taste of Seoul - the bustling atmosphere, the smell of grilling meat and of course, soju (the favourite drink in South Korea). Jin Go Gae is named after the place in Seoul where the founder Mr Cho first met his wife. On your visit, you will be greeted by a passionate team who love delighting diners and introducing newcomers to Korean BBQ.
There are tons of dishes to choose from at Jin Go Gae, so we recommend settling in for a feast. Start off with the tastebud activating ban-chan (pickles), such as kimchi, preserved spicy white daikon and moo-sam (thinly sliced sweet beetroot).
From there, move on to the an-joo (starters). These include classic squid pancakes with spring onion, kimchi pancakes, dumplings, beef short rib with soy sauce, Korean sausage and pan-fried whole cod fish. After the starters, it's up to you whether you go for hot pot, BBQ or other main. Hot pots feature spicy, hearty options like pork rib and potato, mixed seafood, bulgogi with mushroom and dumplings and kimchi with mackerel and mooli.
The BBQ options, meanwhile, feature meaty staples like bulgogi, galbi, marinated squid, tiger prawns and more, for you to cook at the table. Other mains include udon and bibimbap dishes, although the hot pot and BBQ options are really the main event.
Korean fried chicken is also available at Jin Go Gai, with spicy, garlicky, honey-glazed and curry options available. Wash all that down with a Korean Cass beerl, soju, plum wine or makgeolli (rice wine). Soft drinks like Korean bong bong grape juice and aloe vera juice are also available.
Finish with yuzu ice cream for a truly authentic Korean meal.
