About

The all-day restaurant at Warren House Hotel serves modern European cuisine in a traditional setting. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a hearty breakfast, an elegant dinner, or an indulgent afternoon tea for a special occasion, it offers a multitude of dining experiences suited to all your needs.

The main restaurant is a beautifully appointed space featuring gold detailing, William Morris-style wallpaper, white tablecloths and panelled walls. While tables are well-spaced to ensure diners never feal cramped or overlooked.

Its main a la carte offering features a wealth of elegant classic dishes, some with an Asian twist. Start with the likes of a warm goat’s cheese salad with balsamic glaze, or chipotle prawns with guacamole. For main course, you might try pan seared lemon and garlic salmon with celeriac fondant, or fillet of beef with fondant potato, pumpkin puree and claret jus. Finish with carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, or vanilla cheesecake with masala chai sauce. The a la carte menu is served all day, and can be enjoyed for lunch or dinner.

For relaxed dining occasions, it also serves a more casual all-day menu spanning burgers and specials, sandwiches and sides. While in the morning, diners can tuck into a hearty breakfast featuring hot and cold options – think a full English, porridge, eggs royale or a selection from the continental buffet.

Afternoon tea is a popular affair at Warren House, not least due to its relaxing setting in a traditional tearoom, with views of the surrounding lush meadows out the window. Alternatively, you can choose to take afternoon tea it in its beautiful gardens if you’re dining in the summer. Enoy classic finger sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, as well as signature pastries alongside endless tea. You can also choose to add Champagne to your booking if you're toasting a special occasion.

Warren House Hotel.

Our visit to the Warren House Hotel started well, an easy drive from Chelsea to the private grounds of the Warren Estate with its golf course and the imposing entrance to the Victorian mansion with ample parking.  We received a warm welcome and found a spacious dining room with an interesting Persian tiled fireplace, a gift to former chatelaine, Lady Paget, by the then Shah of Persia.

We had the impression of a family enterprise, and the dining room was about half full of family groups with an additional private room that was occupied.

We began with generous starter portions of Chipotle prawns with Guacamole and Cilantro Chicken, both very tasty. A glass of Catelli that was brought ready poured and two mocktail, Pina Colada. The latter tasted mainly of coconut cream, but I was assured that it also contained pineapple juice.

We only had three main courses, one chicken tikka and two orders of large lamb chops that were served plated covered in gravy and with over-cooked broccoli, and mashed potatoes; no mint sauce was offered. I felt that this dish was overpriced at £40.25 each and lacked care in its preparation and presentation and we had not been asked if we preferred it pink or well done.

The pudding was a cheesecake that was enjoyed and three individual souffles that looked perfect but soon subsided.

Two bottles of Kingsdown water, one lemonade and three coffees brought the total bill to £322.07 including 12.5% service and despite my comments about the level of sophistication in the kitchen, we were well attended and enjoyed our visit.

I notice the option of "Kids Tea" and it might be worth a visit on a Sunday afternoon.
