Sibling to the Indian Room in Balham, this bustling burgundy-fronted restaurant close to Clapham Junction promises an inviting and attractive modern mix of deep-red walls, glossy wood, lattice-backed chairs and bright lighting. The menu is long and fairly familiar, ranging from ‘simply Indian’ standbys such as dhansaks, biryanis and rogan josh to more unusual specialities including Kekada crab cakes with coconut, zingha 65 (deep-fried jumbo prawns with green chillis and curry leaves), Goan seafood curry, aromatic Kashmiri chicken with apricots and other ‘adventurous show bites’. Veggies do well here, and there are good-value all-in thalis too (including a fish version). Also watch out for regular discounts and cut-price deals at off-peak times.
