With an aim to serve up some of the best plant-based food in the country, VE Kitchen delivers colourful, fresh plates via their restaurant in southwest London.
VE Kitchen is a no-excuse plant food kitchen diner. They serve delicious, freshly prepared 100% plant-based food all day, everyday and place sustainability at the heart of what they do; using produce sourced wherever possible from ‘low food miles’ outlets, cooking it in green energy kitchens and using zero-plastic packaging for their deliveries.
In the Northcote Road restaurant the interiors are painted in a pleasingly pastel palette and provide that all-important Instagram opportunity. Expect pink velvet stools, counter seating, mismatched sculptural lights and a feature wall, as well as a large outdoor terrace perfect for al fresco dining.
The menu is broken up into Guilty Pleasures, Game Changers and Modern Classics where delicious, fresh ingredients take centre stage. From the Guilty Pleasure section, you can expect a selection of loaded burgers. Think a spicy Korean one topped with kimchi, creamy slaw, tomato, pickles, and Korean BBQ sauce or the Classic – a combo of a Moving Mountain patty with lettuce, tomatoes, burger sauce and pickles.
The Game Changer bowls are centred around the Ayurveda principles of eating mindfully, so you can expect nourishing ingredients and focused food groupings. With both warm and hot bowls on offer, these are perfect for a hearty lunch or lighter supper. The Vata bowls – for instance - are thought to promote balance. Toppings for these include a rainbow selection of veggies with a pumpkin seed pesto as well as a miso tofu bowl with pickled cucumbers, kimchi and sesame.
Modern Classics span mac and cheese, katsu curry and Smokey bean chilli. Sweets haven’t been skipped either. Here you can choose from a tempting selection of gelato, brownies or hot cookies and ice cream.
If you happen to stop in during the morning there’s also a great line-up of brunch specials, with both sweet and savoury options that include a full fry, warm banana bread or sweet spiced porridge topped with peanut butter and maple syrup.
