If the name 'Greenberry' feels familiar, especially when attached to an all-day dining spot, it's because Greenberry Hill is the sister branch to the already much-loved Primrose Hill location, which has been nestled among florists and boutiques on Regent's Park Road since 2012.
Its younger sister in Belsize Park opened in 2020 and recreates the same relaxed vibe, offering seasonal dishes and a neighbourhood feel with an all-day dining menu that offers brunch, salads, sandwiches and cakes until the a la carte selection kicks in for the evening sitting.
The brunch offering includes crowd pleasers such as eggs royale, florentine and benedict, a full English and homemade granola, alongside fluffy pancakes with ricotta. We like the sound of the toast section which offers delectable toppings such as Devonshire crab with a poached egg and hollandaise, London cured smoked salmon and avocado with sweet potatoe hummus.
If you're in the mood for something light, the cafe's appetisers are varied and experimental and go down a treat especially in the warmer months. Choose from options such as leek and watercress soup with a parmesan tulle and zested crème fraîche; asparagus, Grana Padano cream and crispy poached Burford Brown egg; or tempura courgette with white truffle mayonnaise and shaved pecorino.
Come evening and there's much to choose from, with seasonal large plates as well as house classics. For example, the Sutton Hoo chicken Schnitzel with fried egg and brown anchovies sounds delicious, as does the wild-caught cod with pearl barley risotto, chicken broth and crispy pancetta. Elsewhere, staunch favourites of the team include 32 day dry aged Herefordshire sirloin steak with pommes frites and soba noodles with Japanese Tamara and sake broth, tofu, shiitake, pak choi and beansprouts.
If you still have room for pudding, get stuck into the likes of apple and almond tart with crème fraîche, affogato al caffè or Valrhona chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream.
