The name’s the same, but new brooms have swept in at this remodelled Belsize Park boozer – the first in a planned roll-out of similar ventures from the Midlands-based Spirit Pub Company. To drink,
pick from a range of cask ales including Timothy Taylor Landlord and Camden Hells, or sample wines from £15. To eat, expect gastropub staples such as sea bass with mussels and bacon or chilli,
honey and soy noodles with stir-fried vegetables and toasted cashews, as well as modish bar snacks (cottage pie croquettes etc). It remains to be seen whether this updated take on a trad Victorian
alehouse (complete with jolly English seaside beach huts as outdoor seating) will poach trade from the established competition in ritzy NW3 – particularly as a spokesman claims that the bar won’t
offer the now-commonplace classic cocktails.
