Known to be one of Liverpool's original seven streets, Castle Street dates back to the 13th century and was part of the local culture well before Liverpool became a city. A street rich with history, the street is aptly named for The Castle of Liverpool, which stood at the end of the street between 1232 and 1237. Whilst nothing remains of The Castle of Liverpool, you can visit the site of what once stood, where a plaque marks its existence. Around Castle Street you'll find lots of things to do, from music experiences and immersive events to lively bars that are open until the early hours and gin bars. Today, Castle Street has the Town Hall at the top of it, and the oldest door in Liverpool at McGuffie's. If you fancy yourself a bit of a movie spotter, you may notice some of Castle Street from the likes of Florence Foster Jenkins.
