Of all the pubs in Bickerstaffe, The Sandpiper is perhaps up there with the most charming. Found just off of the A570, The Sandpiper is in a prime spot for those travelling through West Lancashire. Filled with wooden beams, chequered furnishings and roaring fires, The Sandpiper has the interiors you’d expect of a classic British pub.
Delve into the menu with an array of appetisers that set the stage for a memorable meal. Start with the deep-fried brie bites with an apricot and ginger chutney, or juicy prawns in a bloody mary Marie Rose sauce, with fresh avocado, tomatoes, lettuce and sourdough bread, and don’t forget about the salt and pepper squid, paired perfectly with a sweet chilli dip, or opt for the grilled halloumi salad adorned with a luscious balsamic glaze.
These delightful starters pave the way for classic British dishes, including hunter's chicken schnitzel topped with a BBQ & tomato sauce, crispy bacon and melted Cheddar, served with triple-cooked chips, a home-baked pie of the day with golden puff pastry, spring onion mash, roasted carrots and greens, or an indulgent beef and red wine lasagne, served with garlic ciabatta and a side salad.
Lunch is served until 5pm Monday through to Thursday and offers customers the choices of a gammon steak, lamb shepherd’s pie and stone-baked pizza, along with nourish bowls and salads. On Sundays, a selection of hearty roasts, served with crunchy seasonal vegetables, beef dripping roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and as much gravy as you like, are served up to hungry customers, who leave with full bellies and a smile on their face.
You’ll always find a warm welcome, comfy chair and a local hand-pulled ale or cider in the bar area, along with a great selection of cocktails, such as a Tommy's Margarita and French Martini.
