The Grapes Hotel is in Formby, a commuter town just outside Liverpool. It bears all the hallmarks of a British pub: a wooden bar well stocked with real ales, plenty of dining space and events planned throughout the year. In addition, it's a short walk from Formby Beach, a National Trust operated site known for its rare wildlife.
Food is served from midday until 9pm every day and the options are vast. The small plates range includes, chilli and cheese biggest, hunter’s BBQ chips and crispy coated prawns and is priced as follows: three for £12.99, five for £18.99 and seven for £23.99. Those wanting to share can also choose from a tear and share garlic baguette, a cheesy Doritos starter or 10 chicken wings.
Mains dishes are grounded in both traditional and modern pub classics. The favourites range features an all-day breakfast (also available vegetarian), lasagne, fish and chips, and chicken tikka masala. Burger options are equally as numerous. Toppings include cheese and bacon, chicken and bacon and burning hot (two patties with sriracha, jalapenos and burger sauce).
Anything from the grill is served with chips, half a grilled tomato and peas and you can choose from the likes of a rump steak and mixed grill. On Sundays there’s roast. Turkey, pork and beef are the meat options; vegetarians have a mushroom Wellington. If you order the triple roast, all three meats come at once.
The Grapes also shows a range of live sport and takes bookings for Christmas. Those opting for the latter are served a Christmas menu.
