Run by the team behind the Disappearing Dining Club (a dinner-party pop-up occupying unusual spaces across the capital), Back in 5 Minutes is a permanent 30-cover restaurant hidden behind a designer clothes shop on Brick Lane. On Wednesdays, the place follows its original DDC remit – namely a three-course set dinner for sharing, served at 7pm and eaten around a communal table; expect anything from black bream à la grecque to slow-roast pork belly with braised borlotti beans and gremolata. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings (from 6.30pm), proceedings revolve around a short carte featuring the likes of salt cod croquettes with spicy ‘mojo rojo’ sauce, braised beef short-ribs with root vegetable and chorizo salad, and Earl Grey crème brûlée. At other times, the space can be hired out for private parties, meetings and celebratory events.
