Glasshouse London is a multidisciplinary LGBTQIA+ venue in Shoreditch, offering a "place for queers to thrive" with books, coffee, socials, talks, music and a bar. There is an intersectional bookshop and cafe (The Common Press), where the books are like the coffee: hot, fabulous and strong enough to smash the patriarchy. There are two podcast studios for recording or quiet work. The event space (The Commons) hosts a variety of events, including live music, DJ sets and spoken word.
The bar, Common Counter, is a space that focuses on sustainability and craftsmanship. There are delicious cocktails, mocktails and beers to enjoy here. The impressive choice of cocktails - all under a tenner we might add - includes fun concoctions like Divine Intervention (Aperol, dry gin, grapefruit, summerberry syrup, egg white and bitters) or the Green Knight's Girdle, made with Woodford Reserve, green chartreuse, absinthe, lemon and honey syrup. Naturally, classic cocktails are also available upon request, but the house concoctions definitely seem like the way to go.
For non-drinkers, there is a range of playful mocktails, including a spiced rhubarb Collins or Garden Sour, made with Seedlip Garden, pear shrub, apple, cucumber, lemon, rosemary and egg white. The house white and red are both sustainable and both available by the glass or bottle. The beer selection at Common Counter is impressive - as it should be to keep up with the Shoreditch competition. Highlights include the Queer Brewing Co. Flowers or Kernel table beer bottles, as well as Five Points Porter and Magic Rock Saucery IPA on tap.
Coffee is also available here, as well as a selection of teas and soft drinks, including drinks from Karma, JARR Kombucha, Fever Tree and Belu. Those looking for a queer space with a lot to offer - look no further! Common Counter and the Glasshouse have it all.
