Esher is a town in Surrey that lies to the east of the River Mull. It doesn't have a very big population, but being an outlying suburb of London that is close to the Surrey border, Esher is a popular choice with commuters into the city. Esher has even been mentioned in the Sherlock Holmes series, with Dr Watson referring to it as a ‘pretty Surrey village’, and it's frequently been named one of the happiest towns to live in. George Harrison from the Beatles even owned a house in Esher during the 60s, and Maurice Gibb from the Bee Gees also owned a home here from the 70s. There's plenty to do in Esher, including a visit to Sandown Park Racecourse, a walk through the National Trust Claremont Landscape Garden, and not too far away you could take a day trip to Hampton Court Palace, to learn all about its many hundreds of years of history.
