The Plough Inn Cobham

This Grade-II listed local treasure is found in a conservation area near Cobham, and is open from lunchtime, although it’s at its most charming in the evening, when it boasts candlelit dining and a roaring open fire.  

The considered menu consists of seasonally changing dishes with a focus on local produce. Expect the  likes of cauliflower and nutmeg soup, chargrilled monkfish tail with a sherry dressing, and steak cuts from the pub’s very own butchery.

Homely desserts include sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce or a slice of Bailey’s cheesecake, while wines come from across the globe and cocktails see the classics given subtle twists.

The Plough Inn is fun for all the family though, with a kids menu available, family-style roasts served on Sundays and a stylishly landscaped garden for when the sun shines. 

The Plough Inn is a steak restaurant, pub and cocktail bar found in Cobham, Surrey. The venue is found inside a Grade-II listed building, but its interiors have been brought bang up to date, while still managing to retain much of its original charm.

The dining room at The Plough Inn is a contemporary and chic affair, featuring patterned tiled flooring and cosy tub chairs, as well as plenty of natural light provided by large windows. The Plough Inn’s menu is a celebration of seasonal British produce, so the offering is updated throughout the year. Whichever month you choose to visit though, you can always expect to find homely, well-executed dishes that champion the very best of local ingredients.

At lunchtime (12-4pm), you can choose between filling options including breaded chicken served on toasted focaccia or a steak flatbread paired with bearnaise sauce and chips. Later in the day, the menu expands to include the classic three-course format. To start your meal, tuck into the likes of beetroot cured and smoked salmon served on toasted soda bread and topped with creme fraiche and shallot chutney, or grilled sardines with fennel and spring onion salad. For your main course, meat lovers can delight in a Highland Wagyu burger paired with triple-cooked chips, while veggie diners can opt for mushroom risotto with pea shoots and truffle oil.

For pudding, indulge your sweet tooth with the likes of fried custard and honeycomb ice cream or lemon posset with Amaretto crunch. Savoury cravings can be satiated too, thanks to an exclusively British cheese board.

Children are welcome at The Plough Inn and can order from a dedicated kids menu that features cheeseburger and chips or macaroni pasta, while Sundays see classic roasts accompanied by all the trimmings. Don’t miss the fun house cocktails either.
