Bone Idyll is a cocktail bar and distillery run by a husband-and-wife team in Kingston-Upon-Thames. The steampunk-themed venue is located next to the river and is a distillery by day and a bar by night.
In the distillery, the team produces small-batch spirits; most famously a dry gin, a pink gin and a barrel-aged gin, but botanical and aged rums, and a vodka are all bottled here too. The team also makes bottled cocktails, with margaritas, espresso martinis, passionfruit daiquiris, pink gin cosmopolitans and barrel-aged negronis on the menu. The distillery hosts a 'Gin School' on Fridays and Saturdays, in which guests can devise their own unique gin recipe, and then distill, bottle and label it to take home. They are even able to re-order their bespoke gin when they've run out, as all recipes are kept on file. Guests also get to taste Bone Idyll's range of gins as part of their class.
Then, by night, the distillery transforms into a bar and kitchen. At this time, the team serves an extensive range of cocktails, created by their master mixologists. Cocktail highlights include the 'Figs Up Look Sharp' (botanical rum with lime juice, orange liquer and fig conserve) and the 'Flemmings Miracle' (barrel-aged gin with ginger, lemon juice, honey syrup and hickory smoke syrup_. There's a happy hour that runs from Wednesday-Sunday, from 4pm-7pm, with two drinks for £12, so definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a bargain.
The bar also serves small plates to enjoy with your drinks. There are snacks on offer, including house sourdough with Marmite butter and chilli rice puffs. Or if you fancy something a bit more substantial, try the chorizo sausage roll with piquillo ketchup, smoked mackerel pate with gherkin chutney and sourdough, or a corn-fed chicken, tarragon and apricot terrine with a herb salad. There are also sharing boards, with a charcuterie board and a cheese board available.
