A modern coaching inn housed in a Victorian police station in Chiswick, The Hound offers more than a little history. It’s a bustling space with exceptional gastropub menus and private dining experiences suited to all manner of occasions. The main private dining room at The Hound, known as ‘The Clink’, is formed of three former prison cells with the original ceilings still visible. Tastefully decorated with deep-green textured wallpaper and pendant glass lighting, it seats a maximum of 18 guests at a banquet-style dark wood table.
Paying homage to the building’s history, alongside the room are two wine cellars, each with the original jail bars and prison doors in situ. The Hound, however, is very much in the 21st century. The private dining room comes equipped with AV systems, WiFi, and a screen for presentations and live sports streaming. If your private dinner is a little larger, you’ll also find The Green Room, a private event space and dining room for up to 30 seated guests.
The Hound is the third pub collaboration between JKS Restaurants and Dominic Jacobs, building on the success of The Cadogan Arms in Chelsea and The George in Fitzrovia. With executive chef John Sparks working with James Knappett, culinary director of two Michelin-star Kitchen Table in Fitzrovia, your private dining experience at The Hound is in safe hands.
True to style, the menu is one of inspired British pub classics. Private dining at The Hound is a feasting affair, with both standard and vegetarian options. Along with chilli cheese toasties and home-cured salmon, starters include a well-known favourite from The Cadogan and The George: black pudding Scotch egg with Oxford sauce. As for mains, guests can expect the likes of whole roasted sea bass with fennel, tomato and basil stuffing, or, braised lamb wellington with new potatoes.
