Looking for a private dining experience with a difference in Bath? You need to get yourself over to The Elder, pronto. This innovative restaurant comes from Mike Robinson and Exec Chef Liam Goldstone, who are passionate about showcasing British wild food in a premium way, have developed a stuning seven-course menu which would impress friends, family or clients.
First things first, and when hosting your event at The Elder, you'll need to decide which spaces works best for you - and trust us, there's a lot of choice. For really intimate dinners of just a few special people, look into The Art Room for groups of 10, or The Stag Room for groups of up to 20.
If your guests are true foodies, they might appreciate the chef's table experience which takes place in a restored 18th-century kitchen, or for a real knees up, there's the townhouse where multiple rooms can be hired out for a proper party. Finally, The Elder is also home to an amazing, subterranean speak easy bar which is located within a historic vault, and can also double as a private dining room.
As for the food, while there's no sample menu online, the team are passionate about seasonal produce that's sourced ethically and locally, with founder Mike Robinson even starting his own ethical venison company called Deer Box, which provides the kitchen with wild venison. Other interesting stories from the kitchen include seafood from Cornwall’s Flying Fish and that the team insist on minimal plastics within all deliveries, being sure to package their supplies in recyclable boxes.
Another great thing about inviting guests here is that the Hotel Indigo Bath sits right next door and is a partner of the restaurant, who give it their full stamp of approval. So, whether guests are from near or far, there's somewhere for them to lay their heads.
