ro. is a cool, new opening in Newcastle, having hard launched in November 2023. It has a great location on Heaton Park Road, sitting pretty between the vibrant areas of Heaton and Ouseburn, surrounded by plenty of buzz.
The venue has a late-night feel with atmospheric lighting and plenty of candles, a sultry colour scheme of red and black and cosy seating. The sleek bar is a particular design feature, underlit with ruby-hued mood lights and being such an intimate space, ro. feels like a real hidden gem.
ro. is founded by friends Andrew and Josh, who together have 15 combined years of hospitality experience in the North East. While the bar and restaurant is usually open Wednesday to Sunday, chat to the guys about taking over the space for your own private party and they'll be more than happy to discuss options with you. From birthday parties to corporate events, ro. is a special spot that your guests will no doubt be impressed by.
When it comes to food and drinks, the team live by four principles: sustainability, locality, community and quality, so you can be assured anything that comes to you in a glass or on a plate has been crafted with consideration. Any catering for your event will, of course, be taken care of in house with recipes courtesy of a collaboration with PATTY MELTS.
From the menu, expect rich, indulgent sandwiches like the DBL DBL which is stuffed with the likes of double beef patties, double servings of cheese, diced onions, pickles and house sauce, served on a milk bun. There's also plenty of sides like seasoned fries, fried lasagne and roasted garlic mayonnaise.
As for cocktails, revel in unusual concoctions like the Borscht which mixes sour cream washed vodka, sweet vermouth, beet shrub and dill oil. There's also an impressive selection of wines and locally produced craft beers.
