Bocas sits in the heart of Clerkenwell and offers the perfect space to escape from London’s busy streets and unwind whilst listening to live jazz and work your way through a carefully curated cocktail menu. Split between a restaurant upstairs and jazz bar downstairs, it offers a place to start and end the night. Upstairs is a large space surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, and benches outside the front for when the weather permits.
The food menu consists of Argentinian tapas with a mixture of veggie, meaty and sweet plates. Expect to find dishes such as cured ewe cheese, veggie quesedilla with sweet potato, mushroom and cheese, and pil-pil prawns in sizzling oil with cherry tomatoes. The desserts also see a selection of classics from the region, including a Don Pedro, that’s made up of ice cream, whisky and nuts, as well as churros with chocolate and Argentinian caramel.
If you follow the staircase down to the jazz bar, you’ll find a dimly lit cosy space with sofas and tables lining the room. Here, you can marvel at the live music that changes regularly, but can include anything from saxophonists, soulful singers, to impressive bands. This is the perfect spot for seeing through the evening with some cocktails that have been carefully selected to provide London with drinks that you’d find in any of the finest drinking establishments in Argentina.
Bocas lends itself as a great space for celebrating with friends, whether it’s a birthday party or a team social after work. Whatever it’s for, you can book group dining at Bocas for when you want to get the gang together, with the intimate space downstairs perfect for a more secluded set up when you’re after a little more privacy.
