Each week, we pick one of our favourite venues and explain why it’s made the cut
Libraries are lovely places, and the intimate members club on St Martin’s Lane that’s borrowed the moniker is no exception. Founded in 2013,
Library bills itself as a hub for creativity and has six event spaces across its four floors available for private hire.
What’s so good about it?
The space plays up to its name with shelves full of interesting books, but it has a lively, contemporary vibe thanks to upcycled art and an eclectic design. Take Room 7 for instance, where you’ll find exposed brickwork, oil paintings, a 70s record player and a 50in plasma screen. Elsewhere the Main Room is well suited to large groups with a stage, two mezzanines and a bar.
Why do bookers love it?
Its central location near to Leicester Square makes it easy to access for guests from all round town. Plus the restaurant on the lower ground floor, Saint Luke’s Kitchen, can be hired exclusively for a dinner party of 40 guests. Dishes span the globe, and include the likes of salmon and avocado tempura maki roll and smoked beef ribs with bone-marrow mash.
