Each week, we pick one of our favourite venues and explain why it’s made the cut

A new exhibition space at
Congress Centre has put the venue to the forefront of our minds this week. Found in a distinctive modernist building at the southern end of Tottenham Court Road, Congress Centre has finished the project in time for when the Elizabeth Line will open in 2018, connecting the area with Reading, Heathrow, and Canary Wharf.
What’s so good about it?
Following extensive summertime renovations, The Congress Suite is now open. It was created from four smaller interconnecting meeting rooms and adds another large space (17.7m by 10.4m) to the venue on top of the existing Congress Hall. Inside you’ll find LED colour changeable lighting, restored 1950s parquet flooring, and two newly added sets of glazed double doors. Plus it maintains the venue’s reputation for top AV equipment with a Yamaha LS9 16-channel digital sound desk with two top-table microphones, and a Sennheiser infrared hearing loop.
Why do bookers love it?
The main appeal is for conferences and exhibitions, but the central location is a big plus for product launches and awards dinners too.
