New street food venue Public opened in central Woolwich on 1 March. It’s operated by the same team that runs Dinerama, Giant Robot and Winterville – where they’ve already hosted events for brands like BuzzFeed, Google and Amazon.
Inside the 86-year-old former covered market, there’s space for 1,000 guests from Sunday to Thursday. On the weekends, smaller groups can make use of one of the mezzanine levels which are also bookable for exclusive dos.
The main draw here is obviously the street food, which transfers so well to large-scale events. We’re particularly excited for Salt Shed’s honey mustard salt beef short ribs served in a beigel, and Yumpling’s steamed pork dumplings.
Other traders include Yum Bun, Burger & Beyond, Ink, HENhaus, Lava Bar and Rust Bucket Pizza Co. Booze comes in the form of cocktails, craft beers and wines from the bars around the site.
