The South Kensington museum has just announced the name for its new events offering opening January 2019: Illuminate.
The purpose-built space has been four years in the planning, and will be found on levels four and five of the building. Ben Lheureux, head of catering and events at the Science Museum shared: ‘This new venue is being built in response to the huge demand from companies and associations to hold daytime events at the museum.’
With that in mind, this looks set to be a particularly lovely location by day – given level five’s panoramic window that offers views of the city and plenty of daylight. Evening affairs are an option too. Once open, the venue will be able to accommodate 400 guests for a dinner or conference, and up to 450 for standing receptions.
RIBA-registered Mary Duggan Architects is working on the design, production elements will be available from White Light, and the catering contact will be announced soon. You’ll also be able to hire the new space in conjunction with one of the museum's galleries. More information as we have it.
