Searcys announces 175k charity pledge to mark 175th anniversary

British restaurateur and events caterer Searcys has announced the launch of its very generous Charity Pledge – a huge £175,000 - to mark its 175th anniversary in 2022.

As one of Britain’s oldest events caterers – and at 175 years old, we’re not surprised – Searcys is marking the milestone by launching a year’s worth of celebrations, which starts with raising a target of £175,000 in donations for nominated charities. Hotel School and Beyond Food are just two of the charities set to benefit from the money, which will be raised through fundraising across Searcys' venues, as well as donating one workday for each of its team members to take part in fundraising activities for their own causes and local communities. The initiative is also billed as a homage to John Searcy, who founded the company in 1847.

Paul Jackson, Managing Director of Searcys, said: “After what has been a turbulent year, I am incredibly proud to see Searcys go from strength to strength, and would like to thank every member of the team for their hard work and loyalty throughout the year.’’

’We look forward to toasting to 175 years with some exciting plans on the horizon, while continuing to deliver expert service and outstanding experiences for our guests. "Gentle, courteous and masterful" are the words used to describe John Searcy's character and these traits are still fundamental to us today. We would like to make a difference in the communities we work and live in, so we take great pride in launching the 175k Searcys Charity Pledge.”

Searcy’s 19-strong line-up of venues includes the likes of Blenheim Palace (Oxford), The Barbican (London), The Gherkin (London) and the Roman Baths and Pump Room (Bath), with the Searcys brand known more generally for its iconic event spaces, bars and restaurants.

Alongside its 175k Charity Pledge, Searcys is in the process of refurbishing its very own Champagne bar at St Pancras International, which is set to reopen in Summer 2022. It also promises a full calendar of events, promotions and pop-ups in the pipeline this year.

While the pandemic hit the hospitality industry hard, Searcys has hosted 2,200 events across its venues since restrictions lifted back in July 2021 and expanded its portfolio to include four new venue partnerships.
