The team behind Printworks is opening a new venue this Autumn

The Beams is a brand-new culture, arts and events space set to open in the Royal Docks, East London, this Autumn. Launching on the 1 October 2022, the venue will be taking over a warehouse that was formerly the Tate & Lyle sugar factory and will cover a gargantuan 55,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space.

It’s being brought to London by Broadwick Live, the same team who are responsible for music venue and nightclub Printworks, Grade I-listed warehouse Tobacco Dock and Field Day festival. The group are known for reimagining disused industrial spaces and filling them with some of the best new and upcoming talent – so we’re expecting pretty epic things.

The multi-use space will comprise three rooms and be available to hire for set builds, film and art production, photoshoots, exhibitions and fashion shows. Of course, an ever-changing line-up of music and cultural events will take place every weekend, with the industrial space flooded with natural light during the day and transforming into an immersive, high-production club space at night.

The new opening has come at the right time, especially since the recent announcement that Printworks is officially closing down for good this month, with plans to convert the building into offices and shops.

To mark the launch of The Beams, Broadwick is partnering with LWE, one of the capital’s leading promoters, to host 12 shows over 12 consecutive Saturdays. Ajay Jayaram, director of music at Broadwick Live Group, says: ‘We’ll be featuring top tier names and emerging talent, across various sounds, styles and genres within the broad sphere of house, techno, disco and everything that lies in between. We look forward to introducing our audiences to this exceptional new industrial setting, full of character, situated in an untouched part of London”.
