Now the ice has melted from its rooftop ice rink,
Tobacco Dock has announced that pop-up venue Skylight will return for 2018.
If you went last summer you’ll know there’s croquet, petanque and street food on offer. New this year, though, are the big screens that’ll be set up for sports fans who refuse to miss the World Cup and Wimbledon. But whatever, the best bit will be the raised platform bar (double the size of last year), which offers views of the sun setting over The Shard.
The space is, of course, available for hire (300 people, max). ‘We were really new on the scene when we launched last year,’ Scott McVittie, events programme director, told us. ‘Now that we’re a bigger entity we’re getting enquires for corporate hire through far quicker than expected.’ With bookings already open, that means chop chop.
Bookers can either take the Skylight experience as it comes or have the Tobacco Dock team tailor things to their needs. ‘Perhaps a conference, or if they have a particular food style in mind’, says Scott. Individual spaces within the rest of the venue can also be booked during public nights for a more ‘VIP hospitality’ feel.
