Industry legends, Broadwick Live, who are also the brains behind infamous venue Printworks that closed down earlier this year, are taking on the old IKEA in Tottenham and transforming it into a superclub named Drumsheds.
The new space will take the title as one of the largest indoor venues in London, and will cover ‘a carefully curated programme of music, arts, culture and community’, including everything from dance music events to fashion shows and more.
Drumsheds is due to open in September and will feature various rooms, with The X Room acting as the main space, able to accommodate up to 15,000 people. Throughout the rest of the venue, you’ll find The Y Room with a capacity for 5,000, The Z Room which will offer a relatively smaller option for 1,000 guests, and the 5,000-capacity Gallery area which will be located on the second level, and can also be used for private hire. Drumsheds will recreate a similar feel to the post-industrial vibe of Printworks, which left printing machinery and other infrastructure intact.
‘Guests will be able to see the old lift shafts, loading bays, sprawling floors and machinery as they transition through the impressive space,’ it has been said by Broadwick. Simeon Aldred, Broadwick’s director of strategy, said: ‘We want Drumsheds, like all the spaces we create, to be new centres of cultural gravity that provide the basis for human connection. A connection that people crave now more than ever.’
Owner, Broadwick Live, is the team behind other venues such as Beams, Magazine London, Depot Mayfield in Manchester, and of course Printworks.
In July 2022, the brand announced that Printworks would be closing to accommodate a wider redevelopment by the local council, but there is talk of the space reopening at some point in 2026.
