Did you know that women invented overarm bowling in cricket? That’s what our tour guide John taught us on our look round
Lord’s Cricket Ground’s MCC Museum.
We were getting a first look at the brand new Players’ Dining Room Experience Tour. Launching on 3 April, it can be booked exclusively for private groups of up to 24 guests, and comes it at £90pp.
As well as a tour of the museum – home to the first ever Ashes Urn – groups will also go inside the Pavilion, usually for the eyes of members only.
After a glimpse of the grand Long Room and the home and away dressing rooms, guests will be invited to dine in the same room that Joe Root and Virat Kohli will eat in this summer.
The menu? Expect some classic dishes: salmon with hollandaise sauce, lamb rump with red wine jus and sticky toffee pudding. All served on the club’s signature crockery.
‘We decided to open the Players’ Dining Room to groups as we had people asking for a more exclusive experience at the venue,’ Laura Air, head of media & communications at Lord’s told us.
Exclusive indeed, but make sure your group at least knows the difference between their stumps and their bails – cricket fans will be extra impressed.
