Ever fancied testing your shooting skills? No longer will you need to plan a jaunt in the countryside - Clays is bringing a clay pigeon shooting bar to Canary Wharf in December.

If clay pigeon shooting and drinking sounds like a dangerous mix, well, you’re absolutely correct. Thankfully, these clay pigeons are of the virtual kind, so you can enjoy a cold beer or a nice cocktail and shoot away.

If the idea of virtual shooting reminds you of a youth spent playing Time Crisis, think again - Clays employs some serious tech to make its virtual clay pigeon experience as accurate and realistic as possible. Enormous 4k resolution screens display the imagined British countryside in glorious high definition, and also promises a shooting system with ‘maximum precision down to the sub-millimetre’ so no blaming your lack of accuracy on tech difficulties.

The system is also gamified, so you can compete with your friends or colleagues and see scores in real time. If you provide your email address, you’ll get a whole package of photos, stats and results afterwards too. Each shooting area (called a peg) is available for a 60 or 90 minute session, and accommodates groups of up to 20.

Food-wise, Clays sticks to easy sharers like nachos, sweet potato fries, big sharing platters and loaded breads. That said, the menu is devised by Roger Olsson, who’s culinary background includes the likes of The Dorchester, The Ritz and Pied a Terre, so there are some gastronomic flourishes on the menu as well, with small plates like a pork and venison Scotch egg, sweetcorn ribs with paprika salt and chipotle mayonnaise, and a cookies and cream cheesecake teacup.

The drinks menu promises a lot too, with signature cocktails and fun shots, as well as options for non-drinkers.

London’s appetite for gamified entertainment shows no sign of stopping, it seems! Check out Fairgame - an immersive fairground venue in Canary Wharf, with playable games as well as food and drink from the likes of Burger & Beyond, Rudy’s Pizza and Dos Mas Tacos.
