We’re big fans of the following event spaces as they require little or no effort to create a tip-top vibe. Centuries of history, high ceilings and lavish interiors all come into play

With a ceremonial gate as the main entrance, the historic atmosphere at Skinners’ Hall is created from the off. Inside is a Grade I-listed livery hall that dates back to 1670, and is kitted out with roaring fireplaces and impressive murals.

As an ancient inn of court, Middle Temple Hall’s interiors are, unsurprisingly, lovely. Expect stately wood panelling, large patterned rugs, stained glass, fireplaces and historic artwork. In summer, the well-manicured gardens are a nice addition.

You might not expect to find a Grade II*-listed Georgian mansion in Croydon, but that’s where you’ll find Addington Palace. We like that you can get the country chic vibe (there’s 160 acres of land surrounding it) so close to the centre of the capital, at events in its Great Hall and Royal Pavilion.

Period furniture and paintings abound in this livery hall near St Paul’s Cathedral. We particularly like the idea of hosting a dinner in the Great Hall just before dusk, so that guests can witness the light fading through the stained-glass windows as the atmosphere amps up.

This is certainly one venue that merits the adjective ‘iconic.’ The 19th-century building is now a Unesco World Heritage site, and events organised here offer guests the rare privilege of dining within the Members Dining Room and the Pugin Room, among others.
