Mortimer House’s ideal location in the heart of Fitzrovia and abundance of private hire spaces make it a perfect choice for all manner of events, not least Christmas parties. If you’re looking for somewhere chic to hold your festivities, Mortimer House has elegance in spades, but it also has a trump card in the form of head chef Tom Cenci. Cenci oversees all the food at Mortimer House, including the Christmas menus which take heavy influence from his time in Orta San Giulio and the Amalfi Coast. All the dishes on this year’s menu have been developed from recipes shared by the team’s grandmothers, so Christmas at Mortimer House really is a family occasion.
Cenci’s feasting menu includes rosemary focaccia and mushroom arancini to start, followed by cotechino sausage and lentil stew, pumpkin and sage ravioli, roast chicken with mushroom and truffle, and ‘nduja sprouts, which are sure to convert any sprout opponents. To finish, there’s rum baba with mascarpone and cherries, as well as a chocolate budino with salted caramel and hazelnuts.
Tables in the main restaurant are available to book, but those planning something larger and more intimate should check out Mortimer House’s peaceful private dining room, where up to 10 guests can sit around a cosy kitchen table and enjoy a private celebration. Or, head up to the foliage-laden Conservatory - a larger private space suitable for up to 20 seated guests, where a skylight lets in plenty of natural light, or gives a view of the twinkling stars in the evening.
Mortimer House also caters for dietary requirements, offering a dedicated plant-based Christmas feasting menu that includes a fava bean pesto and truffle tartlet, winter tomato panzanella, and radicchio clementine and cranberry salad with caramelised pecans.
