Looking to orgaise one heck of a Christmas party in Dumfriesshire? Well, whether it's for your friends, family or colleagues, you're in luck - as one of the most impressive venues in the area is opening up, especially for the festive period.
Dabton House is a stunning, Georgian country house, built in 1820 and known for its Gothic-style architecture. Inside, you'll find sympathetically preserved period details and luxurious interior design features (we're obsessed with the floral wallpapers), while the immaculate gardens make for a lovely backdrop to your event.
For your party, you're welcome to choose between a more intimate gathering in one of the house's formal dining rooms, or opt for an outdoor marquee for a slightly more raucous affair. Each booking is awarded its own party planner and the team have been doing this for years, so they're a dab hand at pulling off a magical evening without a hitch. While there aren't details online about capacity for indoors, the marquee can generally host around 80 people.
One of the best things about Dabton, though, is that the great house can be yours for more than just the event. This self-catering property boasts 11 gorgeous bedrooms, with enough space for 22 adults and two infants. So, whether you're planning a team away day, or you're organising a Christmas weekend of family fun, you can all stay together and spend the days exploring the grounds and wonderful local area, watching festive films and cooking in the evenings.
Speaking of food, Dabton House is happy to cater events and after seeing the sample menu, we think you'll want to take them up on that offer. While dishes change throughout the seasons and Christmastime may well have a specific line-up, previous courses have looked like aubergine caviar to start, and the likes of confit chicken thigh and smoked ham terrine with mustard poached apricots, piccalilli and tarragon mayonnaise for mains.
