There are city weddings, and then there's The City - more specifically, The Wolseley City. For glamorous couples who appreciate the finest architecture brimming with history, a stand-out setting with unique character and all the atmosphere of a European Grand Cafe, this is a gorgeous wedding venue in the perfect location.
The Wolseley City takes the legacy of its big sister in Picaddilly very seriously, with plenty of nods to its iconic hallmarks throughout. Guests are at first greeted by a handsome Portland stone facade, before descending into the main dining room which is decked out with Byzantine-style chandelies, a vaulted ceiling and proud columns, just like the original site.
The interiors are spectacular; created in bold geometric patterns using a monotone colour palette, accented by golden touches. This theme continues from the main space into the private dining room and mezzanine events space upstairs.
So, if planning an intimate affair, take a look at the beautiful private dining room which has enough space for either 24 people as a whole or nine and 12 when split into two. Here, your guests will be hosted around a stunning central table, decked out with floral arrangements and personalised place cards and menus.
If you fancy something a little larger and with a more fluid feel, The Mezzanine sits above the main restaurant with a capacity for 50 guests standing or 30 seated. With a mix of seating and its own private bar, it's a gorgeous spot for mixing and socialising.
As for the food, all catering is provided in house and there's a whole private dining menu which you can look through with your dedicated events planner. For example, the canapes selection includes matjes herrings on pumpernickel with dill pickles, as well as confit duck rillettes and battered scampi, alongside three-course set menus, too.
