If you're looking to hire a venue in The City, whether it be for a birthday party, corporate event or even wedding reception, you're not stuck for choice. London's financial district is also one of the oldest parts of the capital, with a plethora of historic buildings and beautiful spaces.
We'd wager, though, you'd be hard-pressed to find a venue quite so elegantly decked out as The Wolseley City - a little sister restaurant to the first site in Picaddilly. Situated in a former bank, built in the 1920s, the building's distinguishing features include a Portland stone facade and impressive copper-domed stone cupola. Inside, the glamorous monochrome decor feels like something straight out of a film, with plenty of nods to the original such as a recreation of its vaulted ceiling, grand pillars and Byzantine-style chandeliers. If this place doesn't scream celebration, we don't know what does.
When planning your event at The Wolseley City you'll be assisted by a dedicated events planner who will help you take care of all the finer details. All that's up to you is to pick the space. For intimate dinners, the private dining room is perfect. Here, the total capacity is 24 people, or you can split the space into smaller pockets of nine and 12 people. The team can provide a cake to suit the occasion, floral decorations, as well as personalised menus and place cards.
If planning something a little larger, The Mezzanine is a gorgeous semi-private option, sitting above the restaurant and overlooking the main dining room. While your guests will have the area to yourselves, the hubbub of the other diners below creates a great atmosphere. We also love that this room feels more flexible with plenty of space to stand and socialise, as well as an array of comfortable seating, with the capacity for 30 seated or 50 standing.
