How to utilise one of London's most unique features? Well, you could hold your reception on The Thames, and then you get fantastic views of most of them! Thames Luxury Charters has been operating a fleet of historic vessels on London's waterways since 1993 and with decades of experience, the team are more than equipped to help plan your special day, and make it that little bit different.
Thames Luxury Charters pride themselves on collecting the most elegant of private charter vessels, ensuring that your vision for a beautiful wedding day is matched and even elevated by these stunning boats. Take the Elizabethan, for example, which is a replica of an 1890s stern-wheeled Mississippi paddle steamer with polished wooden interiors and handsome upholstery, such as authentic patterned carpeting throughout. Here, the capacity is 235 at maximum, or more like 140 for a fine dining experience.
There are three vessels in the fleet, with the largest being the Dixie Queen which has a maximum capacity of 620 people, and the smallest the Edwardian, with enough room for 90 guests in total, perfect for small to medium receptions.
When it comes to organising the food, the team here work specifically with award-winning caterers FoodbyDish, who have over 25 years of experience catering, and know these boats inside out. FoodbyDish creates seasonal menus with plenty of options from cold, hot and sweet canapes, bowl food, food stations, buffet, BBQ and a classic three-course meal.
To get a flavour of what to expect, we love the sound of the smoked duck with apple ketchup, brioche and Keen’s cheddar topped with fresh green apple to start, perhaps followed by the likes of roast sea trout with crab and brown butter sauce, confit fennel and samphire, and rum roasted pineapple, whipped coconut cream and pistachio meringues for dessert - delicious!
