About Lower House Farm

If you've been dreaming of a countryside wedding, let us introduce you to Wild By Nature. This independent collective spans several venues across the country, each one rooted in nature, wholesome food and good times.

For Herefordshire couples, Lower House Farm is a dream venue, snuggled in the foothills of The Black Mountains. This regenerative farm is surrounded by Olchon Valley and the stunning views that provides, meaning your special day will take place next to ancient woodlands, wildflower meadows and enchanting streams - like something from a fairytale.

At the heart of the farm, you'll find a 17th-century stone and oak-framed barn, recently renovated to make it the perfect wedding venue for couples today. This space can accomodate up to 100 people on long trestle tables, ready to enjoy an indulgent feasting menu, curated by in-house chefs using the best of locally-sourced produce.

First up, though, and it's time for reception canapes with tasty combinations such as hot smoked chalkstream trout with horseradish creme fraiche, sourdough blini and cucumber and dill dressing, alongside summer vegetable and feta tart, and beef tartare croute.

Once sat down, Porthilly oysters on ice and home cured charcuterie with pickles starts things off, followed by a 'centrepiece' dish for you and your table-mates. Choose between options like deliciously rich cuts of slow cooked beef from the site's native breed cattle, or porchetta cooked slowly over coals, and fire roasted aubergine, stuffed with feta and butter beans. For dessert, there's plenty to choose from but we like the sound of treacle tart with candied orange and clotted cream, alongside chocolate and muscovado pot with raspberries.

As for accomodation, the Old Great Marlborough is a lovingly-restored farmhouse with capacity for up to 22 people, ideal for housing your nearest and dearest close to the action.

We will be opening the doors to our beautiful, 17th century oak framed barn, which has been lovingly restored and is situated on our regenerative farm in Herefordshire. We will also be showcasing our outdoor ceremony and gathering spaces, as well as providing the chance to see our private waterfall up close.

We cannot wait to offer newly (or long standing!) engaged couples an opportunity to see Lower House Farm, which will be dressed for the occasion, in all its glory. You will also have an opportunity to meet some of the lovely and hugely talented local suppliers from our  recommended suppliers list, who will be displaying their offerings.

Come and have a look around the farm and chat to our knowledgeable wedding coordinators about your plans and ideas for your big day, while enjoying a glass of our house fizz. We will be circulating a few of our canapés, so you will also have a chance to try some of the incredible food from our farm-to-table feasting menu.

Testimonials For Lower House Farm

I loved that it was locally/home grownFEBRUARY, 2024

My husband and I got married here in September 2023. We initially found the venue whilst trawling through google and it immediately caught our eye. Upon our initial viewing we fell in love with the gorgeous farm and surrounding landscape. Natalie, our wedding co-ordinator, was beyond helpful and made the whole process so easy and as stress free as possible. The food tasting we went to a few months after choosing the venue made for some very difficult decisions, all of the food was amazing

We really appreciate the team going the extra mileSEPTEMBER, 2023

We booked our wedding at Lower House Farm two years in advance (during the pandemic) and throughout the whole lead up to our big day, the Wild By Nature team remained attentive, accommodating, thoughtful and supportive in every way you could ask for! Their venue absolutely sang in the Autumn sunshine and we were so thrilled to be able to have our ceremony under their stunning oak tree. Having the wedding breakfast in the restored barn on their long feasting tables gave it exactly the convivial,

You can't beat the food!AUGUST, 2023

A great venue with amazing food. We got married here, so it's very special to us, the setting and staff were great. We've also been to another wedding here, and another 'feast' in the autumn. You can't beat the food, locally sourced meat on their, and other local farms. There's a beautiful, big Oak tree at the bottom of the field, with a little stream below. And post the farm house is a little waterfall that's worth the 5 minute walk

Can we use external caterers at Lower House Farm?

We dont allow outside caterers to our venue only because we provide the most amazing in house service so why would you need to! At Wild by Nature, food is at the heart of everything we do. Natural meat and fresh seasonal produce from right here on our farm and the local area, cooked simply and served generously. The Black Mountains are well-known for the quality of the produce, and we pride ourselves on working collaboratively with local bakers, brewers, cheese makers and growers to provide the very best the area has to offer, season by season. In 2019 we were honoured to be a BBC Food and Farming finalist and this year our pub was selected for the Michelin Guide. From your main wedding banquet and pizzas from the wood-fired oven, to group dining at our pub and barbecue and breakfast boxes for your accommodation. We will make sure that you and your guests are well-fed from beginning to end with sustainable produce.
